Html printer in windows

HTMLPrint is a Windows printing utility that is intended for printing HTML and ASCII text Documents and image files; including files with the following file extensions: .htm, .html, .txt, .png, .gif, .bmp, .jpg, .jpeg, .wmf and .emf .

Printing can be done in three different ways:

  • Batching documents as retainable lists which can be automatically printed in document sequence of your choice.
  • Printing HTML files from the command line. By sending the file or directory name to be printed as a command line parameter to HTMLPrint the file or HTML files inside a directory will be printed in an invisible fashion. Continue reading the text below to learn how to use the command line.
  • Directory Monitoring. HTMLPrint runs in Windows Task Bar watching continuously a folder for incoming HTML (or image) documents and prints them.

HTMLPrint runs as a visible application only when it is started without passing any argument in the command-line. It cannot run as a service.

What is new in HTMLPrint 9.0?

  • The license includes two different HTMLPrint versions: The version 9, which uses its own printing engine and the version 8 which uses Mozilla Foundation’s XULRunner 1.9.1 (Firefox 3.5 engine) as printing engine.
  • Anyone who purchases the version 9 will get the version 8 as well, for the same price.
  • Both versions have different capabilities. Depending on the required printing job one or other of them may be used. Learn More .
  • The HTML code to be printed can passed in the command line, without using any file.
    See command line switches below.
  • New options for printing headers/footers
  • Many new command line switches.
  • Improved Directory Printing options.
  • Now HTMLPrint runs in the Task Bar when printing directories and file lists.
  • To print all HTML files in a directory, and stop HTMLPrint after the files are printed, a directory name can be send in the command line.
  • Can print multiple files without using lists. See Batch Printing Editor.
  • The printing scale (from 10 to 500%) can be specified, either in the configuration file or in the command line.

Command line parameters usage

To print an HTML file from the Command Line pass the filename to be printed as a parameter, additional parameters can be added to configure the printing.

Bersoft HTML Print is designed to work with and be called by other software or at least, by a batch file, passing the HTML or TXT file name or an image filename ( GIF, JPEG, BMP, PNG, WMF or EMF ) to be printed as a parameter in the command line; a text file containing a list of files to be printed or a directory path can be passed in the command line as well.

Printing lists or files incoming in a predefined directory (Directory Monitoring)

HTMLPrint can watch one or several folders for HTML documents or images and print them to a specified printer.

Alternatively, file lists can be predefined, saved and printed on schedule or just printed without saving anything.

Using Configuration files

Besides settings options through the command line, most options are set by using a configuration file. This file can be created by other applications or by using HTMLPrint File > Configuration File > Edit menu command, which opens a screen for setting all options in the configuration file.

Using HTML files as headers/footers

By including some special tags in the HTML file, HTML files may be printed as headers or footers or headers/footers can be predefined in the configuration file..

Footer/Header Tab to learn more about printing headers and footers.

Error log

If there are any errors while printing files, the error messages will be logged to the error_log.txt file, also HTMLPrint will return an error code to the calling application. Learn more.

Download

Version 9.09 / 2.35 MB size / Runs on Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10, 11 and Windows Server 2003-2022 (32/64 bit).

How can I print HTML file to PDF from command line in Windows 10 (without Admin access, and NOT using Chrome)?

I need to generate PDFs from a bunch of HTML files, and I want to do it from a command line rather than by hand. I know how to do it using Chrome but I prefer to avoid it since it seems to cause my computer to freeze after running it a few hundred times. I don’t have Admin rights on this computer so I can’t install any new tools. Is there a way to run a Microsoft or Adobe Print to PDF operation from command line with these constraints? Thx! UPDATE: FWIW, here’s the command I use with Chrome (which causes issues):

"c:/Program Files (x86)/Google/Chrome/Application/chrome.exe" --headless --disable-gpu --print-to-pdf="out.pdf" "in.html" > /dev/null

Why not use a website to do it then. FTP the files to a server, then point the online PDF creator to it. There are many online PDF creation services for free

Also, how are you running it? Are you manually typing that string with new paths every single time you want to print to PDF. When it crashes, how many instances of Chrome exist? Maybe you can execute that task in powershell or a bat file and kill the task afterwards

Adobe Acrobat cannot print «HTML to PDF» only PDF to anything else.

The Question is based on older issues, which should not be a problem today, as running in MS Windows where MS Edge III+ (Powered by Acrobat) is now the standard not the earlier Internet Explorer, thus needing a problematic chrome solution.

From CMD or a script run 32 bit or add correct location for 64 bit variant
«C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge.exe»

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge.exe" --headless --print-to-pdf="c:\outdir\out.pdf" "c:\indir\in.html"

Do not disable GPU and ideally those filenames should be absolute, and don’t send to nul, as you cannot see any problems. If your running large numbers ensure there is time for closure of one cycle before start another so include timeouts as required, otherwise you will probably get overlapping resource demands causing memory creep until failure. Probably causing the OP complaint about lock-up.

So for a loop use cmd timeout # to delay each run (Use Task Manager to monitor for overlapping time based resource failures) and also there are switches for HTML.js such as compositor and virtual time budget.
