Launching Eclipse in Babel Pseudo Translations

• Create a shortcut for the Eclipse executable file: D:\eclipse-SDK-3.7-win32\eclipse\eclipse.exe
• Rename the shortcut to eclipse-pseudo for easier identification
• Select Properties from the popup menu for the shortcut
• Append the -nl en_AA command line argument to the end of the Target field (see figure 3)

Identify the Eclipse Project and File Where Strings Come From

• The Babel Pseudo Translation Language Packs can be used to identify the Eclipse project and file where strings come from
• For example, you’d like to indentify the Eclipse project and file where the webtools2846555:Syntax Coloring string comes from
• The first part of the Babel Pseudo Translation Prefix tells you that the string comes from the Webtools project
• Go to the Babel Webtools NLS Feature folder at where your Eclipse package is installed: D:\eclipse-jee-juno-M4-win32\eclipse\features\org.eclipse.babel.nls_webtools_en_AA_4.2.0.v20111230043401 (see figure 5)

Conclusion

Babel Pseudo Translations are a very useful tool for Eclipse developers to test for hard-coded strings, layout and truncation problems, and to identify the Eclipse project and file where strings come from. Eclipse developers can use the Babel Pseudo Translations to verify the translatability of their projects and make sure Eclipse excels in national language support.

Как русифицировать IDE Eclipse

Русифицируем редактор Eclipse с помощью плагина Eclipse Babel. Это очень удобный плагин от самого сообщества Eclipse, предназначенный для перевода интерфейса IDE на практически любой язык.

Способ установки плагина Eclipse Babel:

• Идём на официальный сайт https://www.eclipse.org/babel/downloads.php
• В блоке Installing the language packs находим пункт Add the Babel p2 repository: , и нам нужна ссылка этого пункта. Копируем её.
• Идём в сам Eclipse, выбираем в панели навигации help -> Install New Software -> Add
• В появившемся окне Add Repository заполняем Name (как угодно, я назвал Language packs) и Location (сюда вставляем скопированную ссылку), нажимаем Add .

Eclipse производит поиск по репозиторию, после чего необходимо выбрать из списка найденных пакетов нужные нам языковые пакеты. Мне необходим русский язык, поэтому я поставлю голочку напротив Babel Language Packs in Russian и нажимаю Next, затем ещё раз Next. Затем необходимо принять условия соглашения и нажимаем Finish. Eclipse начнёт устанавливать и в ходе установки выскочит ещё одно окно, в котором Eclipse спросит действительно ли я доверяю данному пакету, жмём Install anyway и установка продолжится. Процесс установки можно наблюдать в правой нижней части Eclipse, там будет показан ход установки в процентах.

После установки Eclipse попросит перезапустить его, жмём Restart Now.

После перезагрузки Eclipse скорее всего интерфейс уже будет на русском языке, но если этого не случилось, то необходимо выполнить ещё несколько шагов:

• Закрываем Eclipse
• Кликаем на сам ярлык Eclipse, выбираем Свойства
• В поле Объект дописываем через пробел -nl ru , затем Применить -> ОК
• Запускаем Eclipse

Eclipse Babel Project Downloads

Language Packs for Eclipse Babel release 0.20.0 are now available for March 1, 2023!

Babel Language Packs R0.20.0 for 2022-12, 2022-09, 2022-06, and 2022-03 release trains are now available! Translations in all languages for all projects in Eclipse Babel up to February 20, 2023 are included in R0.20.0.

Eclipse Babel Project is currently setup to accept translation contributions in 47 languages for about 40+ Eclipse projects and sub-projects. Participation for each language and each project may vary. For some of the most common projects, the completion percentages are very high. See the Babel Translation Statistics for more details.

All downloads are provided under the terms and conditions of the Eclipse Foundation Software User Agreement unless otherwise specified.

The Babel project produces language packs from the translations entered using the Babel Translation Tool. You can download the Eclipse Babel Language Pack Zips from the following links, or use the Eclipse Babel Language Pack Update Sites to download the languages packs.

Installing the language packs

• Open the install wizard with ‘Help’ > ‘Install new software. ‘
• Add the Babel p2 repository: https://download.eclipse.org/technology/babel/update-site/latest/ to your Eclipse installation.
• Select and install your language pack of choice.
• Restart Eclipse and you should get a translated Eclipse experience!

Using the language packs

If the system locale for your operating system is already in the language you want to launch Eclipse in, all you have to do is to launch Eclipse normally and the language packs will be loaded.

If the system locale is in English, and you want to launch Eclipse in another language, you have to launch Eclipse with the -nl command line argument:

Replace fr with the locale you wish to use. See «Running Eclipse» for more details. Eclipse Babel Project

Eclipse is a global community. It is in everyone’s interest to ensure that Eclipse is available and translated in as many locales as possible.

Babel is a set of tools to make the job of globalizing Eclipse projects easier. We also want to provide ways for people world wide, who are interested, to contribute translations in their language of choice.

The project includes tools and activities that are needed to adapt the Eclipse deliverables to properly run in multiple locales and to translate selected Eclipse projects into multiple different languages (French, Japanese, German, etc). The project could eventually include tools to aid in the following areas: Enablement testing (E.g. can the software run in different language environments and handle multiple scripts, etc.), translatability testing (is it ready for translation?), preparation for translation (preparation of resource bundles), Translation testing (Is the translation acceptable?), and more.
